Stamped on both the rim and support behind the head with E J Ward Maker, Liverpool 18 St Anne St, this open back, claw grip banjo is likely to date back to the late 19th century. The fretboard has lovely star inlays.
It has been re-headed and re-strung with light gauge strings, and has had 5 of the claws that were missing replaced with new ones.
