This STUNNING Besson bass drum has had a remarkable life since 1938!
Starting out life as a 24/26" bass drum, the owner had it reduced in size by steam bending the shell down to a 22" very early in it's life! You can see where the original lugs were placed (see 8th photo).
It comes with all original parts, including a Premier floor tom mount which is incredibly rare. Both batter and reso heads are calf skin and in great condition. Also included is a very rare Leedy double bass drum internal dampener, which was purchased with the drum from Johnny Frost's Drum Shop in Soho, London in 1938.
The double bass drum dampener is a thing of beauty, fitting through the air vent of the bass drum, the dampener allows both heads to be dampened at the same time.
This beautiful drum will sit right at home in someone's studio, giving incredible low end, and doubling as a sub-bass when it isn't the main bass drum in the room.
